Located behind the center console or the dash; it is quite similar to the ac condenser, but smaller. The ac refrigerant is a liquid when it enters the ac evaporator. As the heater fan blows hot air over the ac evaporator. Hot air causes the liquid ac refrigerant to boil and evaporate which means that the evaporator will absorb the heat from the warm air in the car. Once the evaporator has absorbed the heat from the warm air, as the air passes thru the ac evaporator the warm air is now cool air. The ac evaporator will also remove the moisture from the air as the air passes thru the ac evaporator, turning it into water and draining out the bottom of your car or truck which is the normal dripping we are accustomed to seeing. If the evaporator goes below 32 degrees, the moisture thats supposed to drain off will freeze on the coils. To keep this from happening and to keep the ac system functioning at its best, there is a thermostatic switch to connect and disconnect it to the compressor as necessary. All of the ac evaporators meet or exceed the factory OEM quality units. Discharging of the ac system will be required, so take your Porsche to a qualified mechanic to get the ac evaporator replaced.
