The Porsche 993 refers to the version of the Porsche 911 that was in production between 1994 and 1998, as a successor to the Porsche 964. Changes in Porsche 993 parts included the incorporation of an all alloy multi-arm rear suspension attached to an all alloy subframe. The widening of the rear wheel arches helped stability while the suspension improved the model’s cornering ability. There were also improvements in ride quality and a reduction of interior noise. The Porsche 993 was the first 911 model to carry a standard six speed manual transmission and was produced with a refined all wheel drive system. Additional changes to Porsche 993 parts included dual flow exhaust, revised power steering and larger brakes with drilled discs. The Porsche 993 Turbo Coupe was introduced in 1995, equipped with a new turbocharged engine, redesigned cylinder heads, air to air intercoolers, and electronic engine management. The Porsche 993 Turbo had greater fuel efficiency than its predecessors with the help of electronic engine management.
