The Porsche 964 is the internal name of the Porsche 911 which was sold from 1989 to 1994. This is the first generation 911 to be offered with Porsche’s Tiptronic automatic transmission and all wheel drive as options. The first 964 was all wheel drive but Porsche later added a rear wheel drive variant named the Carerra 2. The 964 was the last generation of Porsche’s that were sold with a removable Targa roof. Both power steering and ABS brakes were added to the car for the first time; both came standard. A new automatic climate control system provided heating and cooling. A new set of warning lights were wired into the car’s central warning system, alerting the driver to a possible problem or malfunction. The new exterior bumpers and fog lamps allowed for better aerodynamics. A revised interior featured standard dual airbags. A new electric rear spoiler raised at speeds above 50 mph.
